The consequences of long working hours

This project is being conducted as part of a larger research program titled, The Dynamics of Economic and Social Change: An Analysis of the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia Survey.

Its main objective is to use the HILDA Survey data to identify whether working relatively long hours on a regular basis has any negative impacts on individual well-being and family functioning.

To date this project has given rise to the following conference paper:

Paper presented at Pursuing Opportunity and Prosperity – The 2003 Melbourne Institute Economic and Social Outlook Conference, University of Melbourne, 13-14 November 2003. [Also presented at the Globalisation, Families and Work Conference (Inaugural Families Australia Conference), Brisbane, 1-2 April 2004.
