Biography

Peter joined the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research in May 2008. He is a Database Support Officer for the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey, a large, household-based panel study which collects information from the Australian population on economic and subjective well-being, labour market dynamics, and family dynamics. His work is primarily focused on data testing and quality control.

For over six years prior, Peter worked at the Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health at the Monash University School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, on studies including the Australian Gulf War Veterans Health Study, and Healthwise, a longitudinal study investigating the Australian aluminium industry and one of the largest occupational health research studies ever conducted in Australia. He has additionally performed electoral work for the Australian (federal) and Victorian Electoral Commissions and for the United Nations in East Timor during the 1999 referendum. In East Timor, Peter was also a United Nations Humanitarian Affairs Officer, coordinating all humanitarian and relief programs in one of the thirteen districts. He holds bachelor degrees in Science and Economics, and a masters degree in Public Health.

Outside of work, Peter is often found outdoors. He is a keen bushwalker, skier, rogainer, and an enthusiastic amateur photographer. He also enjoys cycling and running.
